Our Recommendations

All visitors entering the park between 7am and 3pm must have a vehicle reservation pass to enter GNP. We love driving up Going to the Sun Road, but there is a chance the road will not be open to cars in June (they do allow E-Bikes, though!). Apgar is a great stop for shopping, dining, and renting kayaks. The St. Mary’s Lake boat tour is also worth looking into!

Walk along Electric Ave for lots of cute shops and restaurants! Check out Pocketstone Cafe or Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast or lunch. Lake Baked is great for coffee and/or pastries. Visit the Garden Bar or A Bar for some local Montana charm (both are cash only) or Flathead Lake Brewery for gorgeous views. Whistling Andy and Oro y Plata have great cocktails and food, as well.

Whitefish is a cute mountain ski town about 45 minutes from Bigfork. We love the Buffalo Café for breakfast and lunch, but there are tons of great options. Whitefish Mountain Resort (AKA Big Mountain) has lots of fun Summer activities like ziplining, mountain biking, alpine slides, etc. Click this link for details. We recommend booking ahead!

See the Bigfork website for activities and things to do around Bigfork. We recommend visiting GNP, taking a hike in Jewel Basin (Mount Aeneas is our favorite), or renting a boat on Flathead or Swan lake.
